My wife drives a 2000 Cherokee with a rare 4 cyl and 5 speed. We
bought it new. It has 90K on it now and has been trouble free. It
average in very high teens in winter in town and lower twenties on
road. In summer it get 20 to low 20's in town and arounf mid twenties
on road. It has A/C too that is used a lot. YOu can feel the A/C power
loss more with a 4 cyle than a 6 but it does okay. I would not want a
4 and a auto with A/C though. If you get another Jeep with a four and
lift it it and install some bigger rubber it will do a very fine job
off road if you properly regear axles for new tire size.
