Always try the easiest and least expensive fix first!  

WD40 will flush it nicely but you should then lubricate it because the 
WD40 is too thin to lubricate properly so, flush, try it and, if it 
works, put some lube in the lock.

There's special lubes made for locks, your local parts store or 
hardware stoere will have it, look for a teflon based lube.
