The V6 engines were in the pre-1987 XJs, your J has an I6 (I for Inline)
engine. ;-)
What is your current mpg with this FSJ?
Here are some easy things to do that might help with the mpg:
Skinny tires should help mpg.
Maybe filling them with nitrogen to 32+ psi.
removing any drag points like roof rack.
Lightening up the weight of the XJ.
Synthetic fluids all around
Make sure the brakes do not drag
Wheel alignment
Drive gingerly for the mpg
Keep windows up and the a/c off
Make sure that the engine is in very good tune with a clean air filter
Wax the body of the Jeep
I am sure that someone(s) will add to this list. ;-)
