Locking the barn door after the cows got out. That's me all right!
My hardtop Rubicon was broken into last week. At the mall, broad
daylight.
Very few cars in the parking lot. Appears the thief jammed a screwdriver
into the passenger side door lock and twisted hard enough to unlock the
door. Then pried the bottom of the steering column shroud off. At that
point the thief must have either decided that he couldn't defeat the
transponder ignition or was frightened off. Damage estimate is around
$450, which is less than my deductable. Oh well. Could have been worse.
Now looking into alarm systems.
