That is not correct at all. A turbo powered engine is quite efficient.
I have a 2.0 litre engine which runs at around 15 PSI boost max.
The ECU calculated average fuel consumption is 8.2L/100. On the
highway it sips the stuff at around 5.5 .. 6L/100.
Under lots of boost the fuel consumption rises of course, but hgih
boost is used only for hill climbing or overtaking cars quickly.
