I couldn't care less if his name was Richard Cranium. Hes' talking through
his arse :)
> Yes, agree. Nothing wrong with that.
Well, yeah, there is. It makes them heavy and slow.
> Can I watch if you try it?
Don't hold your breath waiting.
I go near a diesel bowser about once every two years of so to get a gallon
of the fowl smelling crap to prime hydraulic lifters which is about all
it's
good for :)
> See above.
See *what* above?
If you have an inherrantly unballanced 4 cylinder engine (as all good ones
are) and change nothing else other than converting it from running on
petrol
to diesel, you'll *still* have an inherrently unballanced four cylinder
engine.
Only now it'll stink, rattle and won't rev past 2000rpm :)
> Nope. If I run over 40% petrol it ****s itself and refuses to start.

Try Aerostart. That does *wonders* for Diesel engines :)

That's because the timing window is incredibly small.

Bzzzt...
Sorry, but a couple of years of doing roadside heavy vehicle breakdowns
tells me that camphor wood in the fuel tanks ain't just an old wive's tale
:)
Water is instant shut-down death to any diesel engine in *way* smaller
quantities than a petrol engine would be bothered with.
> Water will take out the injectors.
On a petrol engine? No chance in hell.
Water will pass through an injector just the same as any other fluid will.
> I don't have to **** with it to make it to.
Neither do millions of other people with SI engines on the whole.

There is *nothing* on the planet than smells as fowl as Diesel :)

Yeah, but do you?
Siting it as an advantage if you don't is like skyting about your car
having
a really great Jack. It's bugger all use to you if you never use the
thing.
My SI car goes like **** off a chrome plated shovel if I run it on paint
thinners. Trouble is I never do :)
> Had it with petrol or SI ****ers. Been there, done that.
You're in a very select minority.

And I can give *you* a re****t on a Mazda E2200 diesel engine that would
make
the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
If you're trying to suggest that *all* SI engines are bad just because
you've had something to do with a few iffy ones then you're wasting your
time. There's *far* more good ones than bad out there, and the majority of
them cause their owners very little trouble.
> That's OK. Don't need to.
Ignorance is truly bliss :)

Thanks for that, but I have to be honest and say that I wouldn't be losing
much sleep regardless of the way that went :)

Good luck finding a diesel powered bike that's any more fun to ride than a
merry go round.
