I can only imagine how sophisticated they must be now especially with 6 
speed autos etc. But my point was more to the reliablilty of them today as

("touch wood") I and my famuly have had some pretty good runs with them 
compared to the days of the 2 sp Powerglide and 3sp Hydramatic.
