Might depend on where you're from. Frank Hardy (who's nearer to my
era) certainly used all of those... the ****ies and garbos belonged
to the same union IIRC.
Where I grew up, and where I now am (which is the opposite end of
Australia) we still chuck our scraps to the chooks and cart our
rubbish to the rubbish dump (which is clearly signposted as such).
When I was a kid we also had lavatories (at home and at school). None
of those American euphemisms for the ****house ever passed our lips
(toilet still makes me cringe). :)
