The least that Queen Elizabeth should do is make John Winston Howard the
next
lord warden of the Cinque ****ts, so that he can bask in the sort of
bunyip-colonial prestige that she bestowed on Robert Menzies in 1966 and
that
he continued to bask in till his death in 1978. (I'm reminded of an
earlier
Winston, the one who was lord warden of the Cinque ****ts immediately
before
Menzies. But what's in a name?)
Sorry, but I can't stop thinking of John sunning himself on the pebbles at
Hastings or Dover.
