And the same is true for Austalians. An example would be the 'rats of
tobruk' who took their name from an attempted disparaging german radio
transmission that labelled them thus, they took it on as their moniker,
as a big middle finger to 'gerry' (and by that I mean the germans, not
any other gerry who might be reading) and ended up really showing up the
enemy with their feats of daring and endurance under seemingly
overwhelming odds.

I remember during the pauline hanson era an asian private school girl
was on tv saying "I'm worried about what's going to happen to my people"
Aside from the fact that she just drew arbitrary lines no different to
pauline, I also go a laugh - 'yes love, there's only 1.5 billion of you,
yep, in more direct peril of extinction than whales...'
