Because most Europeans are tight arses who don't want to pay for petrol.
If 
they could get coal burners to deliver satisfactory performance they'd use

No, they're not.

There is *nothing* wrong with spark ignition engines and 99% of the
world's 
car driving public doesn't have a problem with them. Yes, the fuel is 
flammable and yes it is dangerous if spilled, but *so* is Diesel and it is

just as bad. If you want to make a bomb, you use *diesel* and amonium 
nitrate, not petrol.

If petrol and spark ignition were anywhere near as bad as you seem to
think 
it is, it wouldn't be used for aircraft engines. As it is you can count
the 
number of diesel powered aircraft on the fingers of one hand and have
enough 
change to play the piano accordian.

No, as I couldn't give a flying **** what you do.

If diesel floats your boat then good luck to you, but the world doesn't 
share your view.
