Every time I have to come down to The Big Smog, just getting out of
the Blue Mountains and entering Emu Plains you can *feel* it. And
that's 50km from "the city". I could be blind folded for the entire
trip yet at this point I could tell you what number the trip meter is
displaying.
I have done and still do the same trip. What I noticed most as you come
down
the mountains, is the increasing salt-air smell,...could be some smog
fumes
chucked in there as well :-)
I left SY in 1975, and the place has changed entirely over those years.
Traffic increase is one of the big ones. Used to be the case, that traffic
volume dropped off to a couple of cars every 10 secs after 10.30pm on the
Prince's h/way. Now it stays busy till about 3am,..2 hours of light
traffic
then at 5am whammo,..the race is on again.
