Selling privately:

Pros

- You get more for your car when you sell privately.

Cons

- It will cost you to advertise your car;
- You would need a certificate of roadworthiness if selling in NSW;
- You would need to deal with prospective buyers and hassle you;

Trading in:
--------------

Pros

- Hassle free

Cons

- You get less for your car than when you sell privately.

Personally I prefer to trade-in as the thousands which I save by selling 
privately does not match the time wasted being hassled by prospective 
buyers.
