In most cases you will get more money if you sell privately but it takes 
some effort.
I would look up carsales.com.au or other web sites that sell cars and 
get an idea what they are worth then go to a dealer and see what you get 
offered as trade ins, if the dealer offers you a price that you are 
happy with trade them in but if not sell private.
We were bought our Subaru 18mths ago the dealer offered us $3000.00 less 
than what we ended up selling our Corolla for so IMO selling private was 
worth the hassle.
