Would like the opinions please ...
Got a TH Magna, 95,000kms. Had the timing belt changed December last
year, and a "Safety Check" a few weeks prior to a trip across the
Nullabor.
Just before I'm to depart on this trip, timing belt goes - car's dead.
Dealer advises power steering drive belt had melted the timing belt
cover, and came off/broke and hit the timing belt. Timing belt's in
tact, just has a serious mark on it indicating it took a hit. This has
caused serious problems. It's taken 3 weeks to get new valves.
I mentioned that I consider them to be liable as ...
- they changed the timing belt 4 months (2,000kms) ago, and
- they did a safety check only a week before the problem
Am I grasping at straws expecting them to take at least some liability?
Get the car back in a few days after being with the dealer for 4 weeks.
Just pissed off this occurred just after the $230 safety check - but
grateful it didn't occur at say Eucla. God knows what it'll cost!
