Errr... forced induction means supercharged (or turbo'd)!

Thus the obvious question...  what relevance is hose length if there's
a pump directly behind the sprinkler?

It's also a poor analogy BTW -- the popular modern explanation is
resonance (it used to be compression waves).  :)
