I never said it did.

You'll never find a dealer who's been in business a while who will sell a 
new car at a loss on the promise of making a profit on the sale of the
trade 
in, and if you got that impression from what I said then you've taken it
the 
wrong way. What I said was that they'll be keener to negotiate a *better* 
(but still profitable for them) price on the new car sale than if you just

walked in off the street with cash, as they have the option of making a 
profit on the sale of the trade.

Bear in mind that exactly what's being traded is what makes all the 
difference here.
