I do 800km / week (if only work 5 days) to and from work. At roughly
1.60/l 
for diesel its costing me about $80/wk which is pretty reasonable. I have 
been looking around at getting a small "disposable" second-hand car to do 
the trip which would work out cheaper, with similar fuel consumption for a

small petrol hatch and about 14c/l cheaper for fuel. The gap between the 
price of petrol and diesel seems to be widening unfortunately. After all
if 
its popular it makes sense to bump the price up right?

Oh and driving a little POS might reduce the likelihood of dozing off on
the 
way home.
