So we are going to be able to get daily SMS messages advising us of the
best
"local" retail fuel price in our relevant areas. The concept sounds great,
but in practical terms, this is going to be a nightmare.
The potential is there for retailers to either "get together" which is
illegal, or the one better for the consumer would be that most will want
to
be on the "cheapest" list, so this may cause some price reductions amongst
the big oil companies.
Also, there will be a rush by the 55c SMS text message companies to jump
on
the bandwagon too. I guess at the end of the day, the Government can't be
accused of not trying something different.
I understand this is already happening in WA so perhaps some from WA can
pass comment on if it is good or other.
