I still have a commodore 64. I actually have (some ****ing where) a
bunch of programs I made to calculate rpm/gearing/tyre size and comp
ratio and other ****. Hardly 'advanced' but effing useful, all things
considered.

One thing I will say - software has gotten lazier - the things that were
achieved with such limited memory and capabilities (the game 'elite' is
probably the best example of this imho) were relatively clever. That's
not to suggest the physics engine of a modern game isn't incredibly
impressive, mind you, just different times, different challenges. I
still actually play the odd c64 game for a laugh if I can't sleep - not
daily or anything, but perhaps 2-3 times a year. Of course I play it on
an emulator.
