Exactly. You'd go high and then react as needed.
I don't think the changes will make much difference to mean prices in
the long run, but I think if it gets rid of the demand surges on
Tuesdays it will better serve the convenience of fuel purchasers as
you'll be able to buy when it suits without having to queue up. That's
worth quite a bit.
I'm not that bothered by fuel prices. If petrol were $2.50 per litre
right now, and the extra dollar was spent on making public trans****t
more viable and building more car parks on the major connecting road
and motorway approaches to the city with electric shuttle buses
feeding back and forth I'd be perfectly happy with the arrangements.
