Actually I just confirmed that (after jumping through several hoops to
try to find the right page, and who knows how long this link will work
since from the path their web site is clearly as well put together as
their marketing strategy):

Well, I suppose that's something. As long as you don't mind being
without a GPS for the duration of the exchange, because they have to
receive your old one before sending you the new one. Also, you don't
have any choice about which model you upgrade to; you can't even 9as
far as I can see) "upsize" the upgrade.
