Yeah it will affect your ability to gain work - your driving
ability is obviously of too high a standard to be a truck
driver. Get yourself a couple of Drink Driving charges,
maybe even a drug driving charge, at least 2 tickets for
40+, a couple of red-light camera fines, then maybe you'll
qualify.
Probably best to get your practice up in a 4WD with a
bullbar - practice tailgating, red light running, lane
changes without signals while someone is beside you, etc.
Make sure you get a pushbike or pedestrian wedged under your
bullbar and claim you didn't see it too - once you graduate
to real trucks you'll be doing it with cars, so get your
practice in with bikes and pedestrians.
Fit a powerful sound system with a microphone to your 4WD,
and drive through suburban areas late at night blowing
raspberries into the microphone - this will help train you
in the use of exhaust brakes.
Probably best to get a UHF fitted so you can brag about your
exploits, plus it helps you avoid the trouble-bubbles.
Once you have all these skills honed, you'll be ready to
graduate straight to B-Doubles carrying fuel, gas,
explosives etc.
