They usually have one of the big UHF antennas connected to the 
UHF(usually a cheap arsed Uniden piece of ****)
the rest are there for looks only
if you ever attend a Ute Muster(why the **** anyone would) check them 
out up close
hardly a co-ax cable in sight

you might get the occasional ute with a Codan HF connected to a multi 
tap or auto tune antenna

as for phones
I don't think they really give a **** or know about high gain antennas

why do they put Mack/Kenworth mudflaps on holden utes
they are clearly Holdens not Mack/Kenworths
