have been approached by an elderly woman who is a friend of a friend
type
: of thing.
:
: Her husband recently passed away and she has offered me his car as the
: several times I saw the vehicle I remarked how amazed I was by its
: condition.
:
: It is an XF Fairmont Ghia 1987 and has only done around 50,000 klms. The
car
: is like new, Im talking showroom condition and simply cannot be faulted.
It
: is 100% stock and has never been modified, the back seats never sat in.
Its
: a country car and has only done short trips each weekend, garaged and
then
: put under a car cover and cleaned each week.
:
: If it was older and more collectable it would be worth a fortune in this
: condition, but I doubt if XF's are collectable at this stage.
:
: She has asked me to put a price on it, pretty much whatever I offer will
do
: but I want to do the right thing by her.
:
: Its pretty hard to price , I was thinking $5000 to $6000 would be fair,
any
: suggestions?
:
: Cheers

A bit of research tells a story of approximately $3-$4k. Even in the
condition that you say Id
advice her to get a price from a dealer and then offer $500 more than
that. Any dealer would offer
around $2k possibly even $3k, so offer them $3500 or even $4k if its
someone that you feel needs the
cash but your $5-6K may be a tad generous even in fantastic nik.
