A mate has an aging EF Fairmont. He is considering getting rid of it. It's
done over 230,000km and I may be interested in it as a work car. It would
only have to travel 40km every 10 days.
He said that it may have a bearing problem. When it's idling the oil light
comes on. He "fixed" it by putting a heavier grade oil in it. He can't
hear any knocking, but I s'pose that it'd be a matter of time.
The auto sometimes clunks fairly loudly when changing from first to
second. The unit was serviced and he said that the bands/clutches etc. are
set correctly.
It's also on gas which makes it attractive by itself.
What do you guys think of the above?
I might be able to pick it up for $500 to $800.
