Luckily it had 4 glow plugs and it would start as long as a couple of
them were working.
Apparently you can get them going by pouring boiling water over the
intake manifold but I never needed to try that.

The DAF was much the same, even leaving idling for 15-20 mins wasn't
enough to get the heater warm, you had to drive it to get any temp into
it.
