I remember watching a doco about a tribe (probably somewhere in africa)
where they took the newborns, cut the umbilical cord and smeared cow****
all over the end of it still attached to the infant. Those who didn't
end up dying from infection shortly thereafter tended not to get sick
for the rest of their lives.
