There's a couple of things which can cause that: - Spiggot bearing in the
back of the crank-shaft is not turning when the clutch is disengaged. This
is often caused by the small rollerbearing running out of lubrication. The
input shaft to the g/box is then still engaged with the engine. It usually
makes some noises early on heralding its demise. If it is a bush rather
then
a bearing, it can get to a point where the input shaft welds itself onto
the
bearing making the clutch useless.
If you can remove an inspection cover,..you *may* be able to squirt some
WD40 into the are,..be careful as oil on the clutch is a no-no.- other
cause
maybe a buggered pressure-plate which has a warped diphragm, those this
always causes rough clutch action (clutch shudder) Less likely cause is a
fragment of friction-plate lining is wedged between p.plate and
friction-plate/clutchplate.-Is the clutch cable/levers of hydraulic? Check
the release lever which enters the box on the side, has some free-play
left
before it's release bearing touchs the pplate diaphragm fingers. If
hydraulic, make sure the release lever is travelling its full travel. If
not, clutch master cyl or slave maybe nutted.
