Well they are useful when they work. The problem is they have a really 
really really bad habit of just plain stopping working. Either the power 
supply drops dead or the unit itself drops dead. I had a customer whose 
dlink router died, I bought a linksys to replace it. When I was installing

the linksys router I had to unplug their dlink wireless box from the wall.

When I plugged the wireless back it it just didn't come back on. I had to 
charge them for a new wireless box as well and while they paid no worries
it 
was very embaressing. I've had no end of dlink crap just stop working on
me. 
Recently I had to unplug my dlink router from the wall and joked to my 
girlfriend that there was a 50:50 chance of it working when I plugged it 
back in. It didn't work and I had to run down to jaycar to get a new power

supply. I reckon I've sold 30 dlink products and easily 15 would have died

within the first 2 years. Most of them die outside of warranty.

I sold a dlink router to a guy who says he's got 14 remote locations which

all need to have the same dlink router so they can talk to each other.
With 
14 locations he likes to keep 3 or 4 routers spare for when they pop. This

happens every 4 to 8 weeks.

Then you've got the problem that when they don't die they don't always
work 
that well. I don't use wireless at home very often but when I do I reckon 
there's less than a 50% chance of getting a connection and that's when I'm
5 
feet from the box. I have to hard reset it and set everything up again 
because it keeps corupting its settings. Now my dlink crap router has 
stopped giving out IP addresses from time to time and needs to be turned
off 
and on to get onto the internet.

Anyway, after all the ranting, my point is that it took a while to work
out 
that dlink are crap because at first you think it's just standard
failures. 
It takes a while to realise the eventually the vast majority of the stuff 
fails. What I'm trying to say is it's quite possible to have a lot of a 
certain brand of equipement and know it's crap. That makes them the most 
qualified to comment IMO :-)
