Hmmm, who's funding this road? Any bet it's the state government and this
is
how they plan to recoup the expenditure before the next Vic state
election.

Not in Sydney - is *every* single school zone a 'known hot spot for
crashes'? I don't think so. A lot of school zones are set up on major
roads
and many roads have multiple school zones, so it's a clear revenue raiser
designed to catch people multiple times and annoy motorists because the
average speed tends to drop to around 40 any time school zone restrictions
are in force.
I'd love to see stats on how many fines are issued by automatic school
zone
speed cameras during school zone times compared to how many are issued by
speed cameras in other areas during the same times.

Well in this case it's very clearly about revenue and nothing else, but
it'll get mashed up into safety culture awareness by the government
marketting the new road on it's 'safety' merits! Lets hope it doesn't turn
into another Sydney M5 - ie. the 'choko'. 8-)
