Indeed.  If the sidewalls look like a dried-up river bed, the tyres are
****ed...  :-)

I once saw a 1988 Mercedes Benz that had been im****ted from Japan as an
over-15yo im****t.  The tyres looked like the originals for the car, and
had E-marks (making them legal in Australia) but were obviously cracked
and stuffed.  The vehicle had been brought in by a used car dealer as a
present for his daughter.  The car had been detailed by the yard before
coming to me, and they'd even applied tyre black to these stuffed tyres!
