I wouldn't call spending at least $100 per tyre for good quality ones
'cheap' - two years ago I bought a set of brand new good name brand and
well-reviewed 15" tyres for about $500 total and on middle to low income
that's a heck of a lot of money to find just lying around the place.
Especially if the UK proposal of having to replace tyres every 4 or 5
years
just to get a car passed for MOT comes in here.

I still want to know where all the used tyres that 'fail' pink-slip, MOT,
etc. inspections will be sent and how many of those are going get back out
to the marketplace. I don't see a problem re-selling almost-unworn tyres a
few years old since they're of known original quality, but it's cheap-ass
Chinese tyres that cost almost nothing to buy where the problems are
coming
from I think. Forced tyre replacement is going to create a huge waste
problem which already exists but at least here in Australia it's nothing
like the problems of waste tyres in the USA or Europe.

Either that or the Chinese trade delegations are pressuring governments to
create more breaks to cheap auto goods im****ters in exchange from
'op****tunities' for established global companies being allowed to set up
shop there.

PS. One of the two Caltex service stations in Heathcote (Sydney) today had
regular ULP priced at $1.569 per litre!
