That's a good point.

When I bought my Jeep (a 1943 Willys MB) in the mid '90's it was laying on

it's side in a wrecking yard being used as a dog kennel, and had been
since 
1971 apparently. It still had the tyres it left the factory in Toledo Ohio

with in January 1943 fitted to it, and while they were not fantastic they 
were serviceable in a pinch.

The original steel combat rims had rusted away around them :)
