Tyres were wrapped in grease paper for decades before plastic wrap became 
common, as were a great many rubber components before plastic wrapping 
became available. The very reason *why* they used grease paper was to 
prevent it sticking to the rubber if the components spent some time in 
storage.

Do you have any idea what "bar tread" tyres actually are?

They'd be interesting, but purely for commical relief. As I mentioned, and

as you clearly took no notice of, the vehicle in question was a restored 
WWII Jeep. They didn't do anything particulary well on the road, including

handling or stopping, and any kind of tyre you'd care to name would have 
made absolutely **** all difference to their performance.

It makes them new old stock tyres that are in perfectly serviceable 
condition, and, quite frankly, given the type of tyre they tend to be the 
difference between a NOS and modern replica would be incredibly hard to 
measure.
