I never bothered to get my licence to do roadworthy inspections because
of the corruption... but I did assist. The most outstanding and memorable
one was where I was checking seat belt mountings on an old Ford ute and I
reefed out the mounting along with rust. It passed because he only drove
it across the road between paddocks (or some excuse like that). at the
other extreme, some cars would get the fine toothed comb treatment.
Anyway, it often comes down to who you know.
When we got the Pintara it was repaired with a new reversing switch but
the guy left the filler plug loose. Would have fallen out. They also
missed the left rear wheel had the wheel nuts on backwards (taper out) so
they didn't even bother to take off the wheels to check brakes etc. I
think it comes down to the small amount of dollars the workshop makes
from inspections and so gets the rushed treatment. Qld only requires a
roadworthy if you sell or register an unregistered vehicle.

It's more fun to insult everyone.
