Hey guys...
Quick question. I have a 93 Cobra. The wheels are OEM and have been =
obsolete forever. They come up from time-to-time but the prices are =
stupid. So....
I'm seriously considering getting the 1993 Cobra replica wheels made for =
the GT/LX and storing mine. Thing is, the Cobra uses the T-bird axle =
and it's 3/4" longer per side. So, Ford used a bigger offset to =
compensate for this. 40mm vs 26mm for the GT/LX wheels.
Well, the replicas, of course, have the 26mm offset as they are made for =
the GT. So... if I put them on my car, they will stick out a bit, about =
1/2 to 3/4" per side.
With the wheel well flares, I personally don't think it would look too =
bad, on the back anyway. But some people insist it'll look beyond =
stupid. That said, there are very few 4-bolt wheels in 17" with the =
40mm offset, so I'm kinda in a bind.
I can't find any pics of this set-up.
Finally, one guy told me that even with the smaller off set, the wheel =
width of 9" on the replica will somehow compensate for the 7.5" inch on =
the stock wheel and it won't look bad. I can't get the math on this so =
I'm not sure I trust him.
So, what do you guys think of getting replica wheels and them =
potentially sticking out 3/4"? Gay, or not gay?
Thank you.
Brad
