For junkyard swap jobs you have to be willing to cut and weld stuff.  It is

somewhat better now because many, but not all, manufacturers use a four
bolt 
de facto seat base standard.  Sometimes it helps if you buy a set of 
aftermarket sliders in place of your existing gummed up rusted ones.  When

installing replacement seats you can usually move them around quite a bit,

but the one direction you can't go in most passenger cars is down.  That's

one advantage you have in a jeep, but like I said you have to be willing
to 
cut and weld stuff.
