I have a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift installed in my '96 XJ. I removed the
rear swaybar and didn't notice any significant difference on-road, but
off-road there was an obvious improvement.
But you definitely need the front sway bar for on-road driving, and you
definitely need to disconnect it for off-road driving.
I would only keep the rear sway bar if I drove on-road only and for towing
heavy loads.
The '06 TJ I bought new, didn't have a rear swaybar installed from the
factory.
