OK, I purchased a 08 4-door unlimited hardtop 4WD automatic a couple
of months back. I drive 52 miles round trip...bit of city, but mostly
country. Elevation is 504 feet in the city, and 1200 feet at the
homefront. I'm squeeking 19-19.5mpg on 87 octane. How is the ex and
stepfather squeeking 3-5 mpg over the rated?

Overall, I love the beast. Longer, wider, and higher than my 97XJ, and
the 3-piece hardtop is nice consolation to not having the dualtop
option. BUT,  like the rest, I hate the 3.8LV6. No giddy-up-n-go like
the 4L in the XJ :( I'm so used to the lag time of excelleration on
the JK, that when I jump in the XJ, it almost feels like I'm going to
pop a wheelie! :) Mind you, the XJ has a low 142K miles on it, and
still kicking around with my oldest daughter as driver of it after 10
salt belt years plus as my daily drive and weekend off roader!  LOL

97 XJ 2" lift (oldest daughters toy) used to have 31" swampers but
made it too tall for her to climb into without using a milk crate or
stool! :)
