Black is actually my second favorite car color. It is the one I would 
have chosen.

I envy you. I remember the preachings of Amsoil from 20 years ago, LOTS 
of it.
There is nothing wrong with the oil, it is just expensive and isn't 
doing anything miraculous.

No, since I bought my first Miata back in late 1999, I have not been to 
an auto mechanic of any sort except for bodywork, tires and alignments. 
I am on my second miata now.

Any mechanic can change the oils out and it won't void any warranties. 
It might be a good idea to contact the closest miata club for a 
recommendation.
Honesty is generally more of a worry than competence on something this 
simple.
