I have a 84 Carpice Estate, 305 5.0 with a stock quadrajet carb
17084201.
Got the car about 3 weeks ago. Ran somewhat fine. Got a new airfilter
and when puting it in we noticed some va***s that went pluged in, so
we pluged them all back in. Then i started to notice alot of piston
slap, So We adjusted the timing to exactly where its saposed to be,
witch was like 6degress from tdc.
After that. it ran ok for about 5min.. then when it wormed up it lost
all power, I Would have the accelerator all the way to the floor and
it wasnt even trying, the engine was runing like a didint have the
foot on the gas at all.
So we figured we would start with the carb, got a rebuild kit, fallowd
all the instructions, had no missing pices, no extra pices. Car Starts
up but unless im constantly moving the accelerator it will back fire
threw the carb, shot a nice perty blue flame then die.. Any
adjustments that we may have not noticed when rebuilding it that may
be causing this.
Gona be taking it back apart in the morning.
