Here's the situation. It was 4th of July weekend and I was home
visiting family from college. I was cruising around town heading home
and my clutch suddenly sticks to the floor. I drive nearly 5 hours
back to Omaha the next day and get a clutch master cylinder. I head
back to my hometown to fix it the day after, replace it at 2 in the
morning, and back to Omaha I go, this time with my car.
As I get closer to Omaha, I notice the heat guage slightly higher than
normal, so I decide to keep a close eye on it. I stop to get a bite to
eat before heading home and notice my car is spewing coolant all over
the place and my electric fan is not running. I check all the fuses and
all seem to be ok. But I am highly concerned as to the leaking coolant.
Today, after saving up some money for tools and parts, I notice that I
DID blow a fuse. The fan is working again. The leaking coolant is from
a crack in the flange that connects the thermostat and waterpump. Heres
the problem. My engine is now cutting out around 3000 RPMs. It acts
like it isnt getting the proper amount of fuel. I changed the fuel
filter and the spark plugs. The engine runs great while idleing, but
when revved high in neutral, it spits out a bit of white smoke, then
calms back down. There is an oil smell to the smoke. I only noice the
cuttout when driving if im heavy on the pedal. If im light on the
pedal, there is some chugging. Climbing hills is difficult when driving
this way. I have opted to keep the car in a garage and get a ride
everywhere, rather than further damage my engine.
Any Ideas?
