IRL-CCWS: The Merger

by "Dr. Diablo" <jfq505@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 8, 2008 at 12:21 PM

If it does happen I'm fine with re-unification but why the hell would
they ditch the DP01? It's the classiest looking chassis in open wheel.
I love the DP01.

"As re****ted by SPEEDtv.com recently, George offered the Champ Car
owner****p free Dallara chassis and Honda engines to any CC team that
signs up for the full season in addition to receiving $1.2 million per
car as part of the IRL's new TEAM program. Additionally, the Champ Car
races at Long Beach, Edmonton and Surfer's Paradise, Australia would
be added to the '08 IndyCar Series schedule..................As
expected, most were happy to hear about unification even though it
means their current Panoz chassis would be rendered show
cars...........It's believed there are over 50 Dallara chassis, new
and used, available to be dispersed among the CCWS teams. "

Say goodbye to Power-to-Pass too. I love ChampCar but if this is the
sacrifice that's needed in order for open wheel in the USA to return
to the throne then so be it. I just wish they'd keep the DP01 at
least. I'm not sure if the DP01 has been tested on ovals but they
could still use them for future road courses. Who knows maybe they'll
use the DP01 again someday.

ps. This all seems too much, too soon, too sketchy.
