That's exactly the kind of thing that was going to bring CART down in
the long run.  They wouldn't give him a seat.  When he started IRL,
they refused to attend the WDW race.  They figured they could beat the
Indy 500 with the US 500, rather than just showing up at WDW and
claiming all the seeded spots.

Don't forget how CART was gearing up to battle F1 head-to-head in
Europe.  IMHO, if the business with IRL had not happened, they would
have imploded in their attempt to push Bernie aside.
