That's quite an oversimplification.

As I've posted before...  The maneuvering by both sides in 1995 always
reminded me of a pie fight in a Mack Sennett short.  25/8 was when a
passing cop took one in the face.  A defining moment, but not the
root.

The split into CART in 1979 was pretty divisive, too.
