Prototype for NASCAR's current 35/8. Much like champion****ps,
designed to reward teams that participate in all races in a series.
The main beneficiaries of programs like 25/8 and 35/8 (and
champion****ps) are tracks and promoters. That's why it seems to be
working (so far) for NASCAR, but didn't rally catch on for Indy cars.
