Ok thanks for that info. I didn't "think" it was an
interference engine.... but wasn't 100 percent sure.
Phew glad it isn't!!

It is a 2000 Mazda Protege ES car

True....should know more tomorrow after mechanic has
diagnoses it.... but even he thought it was the timing
belt
