CVT stands for "continually variable transmission" and has absolutely
nothing to do with what he's telling you.  A number of cars that are
not hybrids have CVT and have been for years; one has nothing to do
with the other.

The most recent hybrid technology for the Prius is called Toyota HSD,
and it works basically as Steve is describing under most driving
conditions.

And before you even bother, I don't give a rats ass if you respond to
me or not, and I'm not going to be impressed by your response no
matter how many schoolyard names you throw out, or how many technical
terms you capitialize in order to make it look like you REALLY
UNDERSTAND what the **** you are saying.  That whole act has become
somewhat boring.

This will become common in consumer hybrids.
